Originally built as a ballroom for Stadholder Willem V, the Old Chamber in The Hague served as chamber to the House of Representatives from 1815 to 1992, when MPs moved into the newly built chamber. In 1996, the Old Chamber was restored to its original state and the walls painted so that they appear to be made of marble. The Old Chamber is now used for public hearings, official receptions and other representative purposes.

Both the aluminium profiles (dodecahedra) and the colorful carpet are designed by Jan van den Dobbelsteen.
